So this morning we decided to put in a new bed of Asparagus. First thing this morning we ordered 50 plants to be delivered within a week ... that motivated me to make a proper bed to plant the new crowns. There isn't a shortcut when it comes to planting Asparagus but it will last many , many years if done properly . Renovating a 75' row from the pumpkin patch we tilled and picked rocks and tilled again. Then we trenched the row to ready it for the rotted compost that the crowns will rest on.
I hope this works as I love fresh asparagus and will have to wait a few years to harvest any.
